- FEAST OF BOOTHS Feast of Booths 2009
Lake Junaluska, North Carolina
Accommodations and General Information
1. Dates--- This year the Feast begins on Sabbath, 10/3/09 and the Feast of Kindness is Sabbath, 10/10/09. For reservation purposes you will probably want to arrive on Thursday, 10/1/09 or Friday, 10/2/09, and most everyone checks out the day after the Feast of Kindness which is Sunday, 10/11/09. We will have a reception and congregational singing the evening of Friday, 10/2/09, and a double service on the first Holy Day which is Sabbath, 10/3/09.
2. Housing Options--- This is a listing of what is available. We have blocked off some rooms and camp sites. Based on my conversation with many of you, it appears most have decided to rent a cottage, but here is a list of what we have blocked off.
a. Junaluska Apartments- These are not luxurious but were what was available. Rates are per person per night. Single $58.00, Double $36.00, Triple $30.00 and Quad is $27.00.
b. Deluxe Cabin- There is only one and it may not be available. $87.00 per night, this is a one bedroom unit.
c. Camping- 50 Amp RV site-$28.00 per night, 30/20 Amp site-$26.00 per night, Tent site-$17.00 per night.
d. Hodge Lodge- There are three apartments and we have all three reserved. They are one bedroom units but have other beds and can sleep 4 to 12 people based on what I was given and are $72.00 per night.
e. Cottage Rentals- These are through the Conference center but are considered a separate entity from what is listed in a-d. To view available cottages, go to lakejunaluska.com and click on accommodations, and then click on cottage rentals. You will go to another page and click on, “Lake Junaluska Cottages and Cabins.” You will go to a new page and there is a menu bar and you can click on the number of bedrooms you desire and view all units. To reserve a cottage you need to complete a cottage rental request. This is a paper form that needs to be mailed to the rental office. The cottages have names and numbers assigned. You can list up to six preferences. Please list conference attending as End Time Assembly of God-Feast of Tabernacles. There is a $50.00 deposit required that will be applied to the unit that is available.
f. Other Rentals- There are other real estate companies that have cottages for rent on the lake. One I found is sunburstrealty.com.
3. Making a Reservation- Options A through D is through the Conference center and the person you need to call is Rhonda Edwards at 800-222-4930, ext. 726. To reserve a cottage you need to mail the rental form, but the person in charge of cottage rentals is Kay Gibson at 800-222-4930, ext. 4.
4. Meetings- All services will be held at the Kern Center. You can view the room on the Lake Junaluska website.
5. Commuter Fee- The resort has a charge that I do not agree with but it is something that is their policy. There is a commuter fee of $5.00 per day per person for everyone not reserving through the Conference Center. For reservations A through D you do not have to pay this, but if you rent a cottage through the resort or through another realtor you will owe this. This fee has to be paid by the church when I arrive. I am calculating this on Saturday to Saturday for those are the days we will be using their facilities, so the commuter fee will be $40.00 per person for the entire Feast. If you do not have the funds, the church will pay this, but if you are in a position to pay it would be appreciated.
6. Miscellaneous Information- Check in is at 3:00 PM or later at the Bethea Welcome Center which is the first building on the left as you enter from Hwy. 9. Check out time is 11:00 AM or before. For the cottage rentals through the resort, Please Note: Linens (sheets, pillow-cases, bath and dish towels), cleaning and paper supplies are NOT furnished. There are grocery stores and plenty of restaurants within minutes of the resort. This is a beautiful location and we should have a wonderful Feast.
7. Fellowship- Each year the Feast gets better, and fellowship is one of the reasons why. We will not all be in one building this year, so as you make your reservations, please call or email me so that I can compile a list with addresses to be distributed before we arrive. The pattern of reading and praying together will again be followed, so we will want to spend a lot of time together. We have the meeting room the entire time and I will have the key, so we can use the Kern Center as a gathering place.
